Patchwork Of The Crosses - POTC's

Well - its been a few years since I got to this stage

All sewn by hand using Inklingo method by Linda Franz

You may even have seen the picture below a few years back

Here then there were nearly 5 rows completed... I have now completed that row and have
started on Row 6... I am actually beginning to get a bit confused..
However................

I realised when I was completing Row 5 that I needed some more of the shape C in the POTC collection.  Well... thinking... how did I do that?

So I found my collection... worked out which colour need printing... and how the printed worked :)
And ironed a sheet of my Freezer paper to my fabric..
(cut to a bit smaller than the size of the paper)
and it all worked beautifully.... fantastic.
I then cut the small pieces apart and have plenty now to complete the quilt - I hope!

So.. now I am going to sew together  by hand - so very slowly-two rows separately and then sew those rows together.

This is my box of  my Inklingo previously printed and cut  pieces ready to sew to the already completed POTC blocks with the creme pieces
And ...
As I am again off to hospital tomorrow to get my pacemaker sorted... I hope to have these with me, in case I feel like doing some actual sewing...

I may be a while before I get back to my machine quilting... but I will hand sew as I feel up to it.

Happy sewing and quilting and hope to be here again soon.

Tablet design with Carla Barrett 2013,

I have had a day to myself today - so I have been working on my tablet classes
( doing some sewing too)
I drew this design from some wonderful fabric I have from designer Peggy Toole - which I have used in the past for fussy cutting my POTC blocks.

This is the beautiful fabric...I copied and pasted each of the little pieces th..till it filled up the circle/  Took me a while!

Then I put my drawing onto a new layer,  and cleaned it up a bit - that took me longer :)

Another exercise was to straighten up the photo of a quilt...and as this is what I am up to...

I took a photo of my progress...

.....and straightened it.

Then I had to make an end to end pantograph design . and as I had no designs I could use...
I drew two sets of feathers...and must admit I did do them a bit too quickly, but was pleased with them anyway.

...and this is what I ended up with.

I am so happy to be doing Carla's classes again

So a good day today - and I am off to work out some more of my sewing while I can.

I hope you all have a nice day/evening.

Friday Night Sew in

Thank you to Heidi for hosting the Friday Night Sew In.

I did nearly forget about it, but made it in time...my Friday night comes a bit sooner than most countries
so I am lucky and can do two :)

So - I have done some more work on my WCQ
I need to keep going on this as some of the markings are really fading.
I am nearly round another section.
This is the top of course

and this is from the back.
Also ....

I have also sewn around another block ...Row 5 block 7 - so I can now sew this to the fifth row and I will have only one more blockto go for that row.
Then a heap of sewing to get the 4th row to the third row..Lots of hand sewing there...

Once those 5 rows are all together, I think I will add the bocks one by one to those rows
It won't seem such a lot to do that way.  I hope.
Only another 32 of the white surrounds, small squares and the smaller of the blocks to go.

Andrea has kindly said she will sew some of the 'threesies' of the white for me.
She has done this lots for me before and it is such a help.

Now I am off to sew some more of the WCQ

My Labyrinth quilt is soaking :)

Patchwork Of The Crosses (POTC)

Last night I Skyped with Joanne and Wendy - both in Canada - the marvels of our computer world.
We were all sewing our different things and chatting. Its lovely to catch up with them each week :)

I actually got one of my POTC blocks joined to the 5th row.

I keep track of the main blocks and the small corner blocks with masking tape as you can see.

I have two more blocks in this row to put on...the blocks are all done - I just put the outside cream ones on and then join them.

I have the first three rows sewn together, and when I have done the 4th and 5th - which as you can see are joined - then I will sew those rows together before I put more rows together.

Now ... back to my
WCQ  which is slow going :)

FNSI

A little bit of sewing for FNSI

Goodness - another sideways photo!

I did a very small amount on the border of one of my POTC blocks - am up to the fourth and fifth rows...am sewing those ones together in a double line - then I will sew the third row onto that....... there
are 9 rows altogether.

Here is an update POTC photo.  Nearly halfway!

The third and fourth rows have yet to be joined, and the fifth row is still to be completed
So now I shall take a break for a bit.
I will 're-group' soon.

Completed Row 3 of Patchwork of the Crosses

Showing one half -
'Other half'  Plus - not yet joined, the first three of the 4th Row.
Good that I can do something while lying down :)
Five and a half rows to go!!

After a visit to the Physio again yesterday(NO acupunctue thankfully) I am improving enough to go on our trip - and resting lots when we get there.  Storms are forecast for the days we are there...which fortunatley Andrea and I dont mind, as it means we can rest and sew.listen to books/read/knit and enjoy DVD's.  Lovely choice!
We will be away untill the 17th July, so I dont think I will be able to use the lap top while away..but will try.
I have been watching everyones posts and enjoying them..again no comments from me are being made as it takes too long to sit here. BUT  I miss you all.

Hope to have some photos of our adventures so you can share some of Australia with us.
Hope it stips storms enough for us to try to see some Whales in the middle of our holidays.

Creative Prompt #74: word this week is  Celebration
Mine is a happy Birthday .
No more of these as I will be away.

Look forward to arriving back here soon.

Andrea Took this photo of me last night...as you can see I have managed to do some POTC blocks.

I have now completed the 3rd row, and instead of sewing this to the first two rows...I will try to do the fourth row first.

I was much happier when this was taken.

Not at present!.

Today after sitting for 4 hours at work - and a visit to the physiotherapist late this afternoon,  I had my very first acupuncture to my back and leg...Oh my golly - I did wonder what I was doing.
 Really did not enjoy that!!!
I have come home and slept for 5 hours or more.. Think I must have been in shock!
I am was assured it will be fine in a couple of days...I certainly hope so.
I am thoroughly sick of this!

This is a rough sketch I did yesterday  for this weeks Creative Prompt #73

 The word was Glyph.
Back to bed and sleep again

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Just a quick note to let you know I am unable to sit for long at the computer or the sewing machine.
Please forgive me for not answering the comments at present...
I will post again when I am more comfortable.

POTC No 6 in the third row completed today...2 more to go for this row, then I will join the rows I have completed so far....which take some time...

There are 8 POTC blocks to each row and there are 9 rows...so lots to go.
The main part of the blocks are all done, and all the small joining squares...I just need to sew all the cream on and the small 1" joiners.
Just - :)

It was cold and foggy here last night.  This was taken just before the sun went down at 5.45pm.

This is Andrea with the beautiful Carrot cake she made for our guests over the weekend.

Now I need to sew what I unpicked of the small quilt...hope to get this done tonight.

Slow working today on my POTC's
(Patchwork Of The Crosses)

I now need to sew the surrounding cream borders of the other 3 blocks for this 3rd Row.
The first two completed rows are still up on my design board as are all the other blocks...in order - all waiting for the  surrounding cream pieces  and filler blocks.
LONG way to go Yet!

We have friends staying for the weekend..and its a holiday on Monday  ( Foundation Day)- so I don't think much will get done for those days....maybe some of my hand-sewing ...POTC blocks ??

Oh yes - and our chooks laid their second egg Woohoo!!

Have a great weekend!

Three blocks of the 3rd row of my Patchwork of The Crosses, using the Inklingo collection of Linda Franz - which you can find here, .....so it is progressing slowly, though I did sit and sew quite a lot!

Bought these fabrics in Perth Yesterday...and this is actually anothe Jinny Beyer book ...I gave my original one to a good friend ( I had been VERY late with a birthday present...so gave her my one) and what a great surprise, mine was waiting for me to pick up, so as I had a heap of food shopping to do  of course I went and picked up my book.
What a great book this is!

Waiting for me when I got home were 3 DVD's on Free Motion Quilting...hope to watch them later tonight.
They are all by Sharon Schamber which I got from this site

We stayed at Andrew and Cristina's house, and here is Andrea, her father Andrew ( my eldest son) and Patrick, Andreas young brother Patrick. Cristina was busy working.

When we got back home, Heather and her boys were here too.
They are now back in Perth..Andrew and Patrick go back on Sunday.
As you can see by the lovely colours in our Chinese Tallw tree - Autumn is here,  the rain from the last two days is gone and the sun is shining..and its cool.

2nd extra POTC..#78 and the LAST ONE!!!

1st Extra POTC #78
In both these blocks - the central hexagons are all cut the same , but placed differently...amazing how different they looked.
I have used these blocks to replace some of my earlier ones, which I didnt really like.
I am now relieved to say that these are really the last ones.
I have enjoyed making all of them, and am amazed at how fast they really go together.
Now to tackel the whole quilt.

POTC # 76

I will put up the fabrics later...I am not sure of these, but need to check my stash

#15 of 16
POTC # 75

I may put up the fabrics later...I need to get some sleep...soon

Well, I have now finished all my POTC blocks, and put a new lot of felt on my design wall and re-arranged all the blocks again...tidied the top of my cutting table - cleared my sewing table and labeled and sorted all my boxes.
I need to do that occasionally as I am unable to find the table sometimes.

However I have put all the fabric aside...and will now concentrate on sewing everything together...
Have also got one of my sewing machines serviced and ready to  hopefully do some samples of machine quilting...if  I need a break from the POTC quilt.

I am also looking forward to receiving my new Jinny Beyer book Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns, which I was able to get here in Australia.
