Home and family

Hi all

Some photos of Andrea modelling at the Betty Tran show in Perth last month

 Beginning the walk
 Standing to let people see
 Showing the back
All the models - Andrea is just about to turn
This was quite something and it was in Perth..so went were and stayed the night for this.
Its been a long time since I posted...and I have been playing with blogger!!
Shouldn't have done that as I have lost all my blogs I follow...
Still can't work out what to do.  I was actually trying to put some more blogs in the list...and now all are gone.
Any suggestions - they would be most welcome.

I may go into the studio now and look at all the things I have to do.

 Sort things out....

As you can see,  I am quite disorganised!!
Its cold here too.. another excuse :)

FMQ , Home

FMQ, Home

Well its been an interesting start to the week.
I have managed to get a very small bit of quilting done.  I was trying some trapunto...second piece I have done.
I must admit to having the design WAY too large for the fabric piece, but I have enjoyed...at times...  playing with it.
I tried out a vase - made a few bungles on it...but thats OK..
I did the trapunto outline with Vanish thread by Superior threads...and had no problems with it...but it did stand out on the quilt...thats the white thread of course.
I started the feathers with Invisifil, a brownish colour, which was gifted to me by Joanne Threadhead...(loved the colours I received :)
Unfortunately the thread on the top kept breaking, so I changed after a while to YLI 100 silk...which worked wonderfully. Wasn't keen on my colour choice though.
Then I tried the outline with a gold metalic thread, and had breakage problems again.
I am still persevering with that and trying different things.

However Andrea has been ill with a Migraine for the last 3 days, and today I took her into school for about half an hour and then to ER for some treatment as she was just not improving  ( took about 5 hours till we got back home again)  Fortunately she did improve some, however she still has a few problems.  SO I only got to my machine at times.

Fingers crossed for school tomorrow.  Its been a bad few days for her, especially as she had a wonderful time at the School Ball in the weekend,  and sadly this has put her back a bit.

If I am fortunate I may get to work on this tomorrow ... even though I am not pleased with it.

Off to keep Andrea company for a while,  then its off to get some sleep.

Home and family

First night of the school holidays ... and Andrea cooked this yummy meal.

Andrea tends to make up as she goes with her cooking, and she has had a 100% success rate so far.
Mixed vegetable soup with chicken pieces and cream!

We are really excited too as we have a lovely young lady from Canada who will be staying with us for 6 weeks student exchange very soon.

We are really looking forward to her staying here.

That's it for now - no sewing today - and it will be slow going on that front for a bit I think.

FMQ, Home. and design board.

Just about completed this piece of Free Motion Quilting - for a special friend...

Now I just need to add the binding and I am finished!

There is the back - the sun was on its way down, so the light was not the best.
The fabric is really a whie!

I sighted some of the birds around here, but the storm blew over so many of our trees, and I didn't get a very good shot...  as I coudn't sneak up on them well.
These are Pink and Grey Cockatoo's

This is a 'Top Knot' Pidgeon with a couple of Pink and Grey's on the public open space where we have lot of horses.and their owners ( from an adgistment paddock behind us near the Estuary ) riding past us

The last shot is a picture of my design wall today....
Yes!  I KNOW I have way to much on the go...but its fun.  I am presently working on the black and white Lone Star....  for a  large qult for Andrea... which will have lots of lovely spaces to quilt in. :)  The star will be just the center.

Now ... I need to go get tea on... Or I will be in strife with the troops !!

Home and family

We got through the storms with only trees down - it wasnt as bad last night as they predicted...but stiil nasty and some people lost their homes and are still out of power...at least we had power on - so that was good.
A lot of people were a lot worse off than ourselves.

Andrea has been off from school for 3 days due to storm damage there, and they also had no power, so when she is back at school I will be able to get on wuith my sewing again.

Its been a very unusual 3 days and hopefully it wont happen again for a long long time.
It was no fun with no power - no phones and no way to find out what was happening.

Till next time.

Home and treasure

This beautiful sunset, at home in Leschenault last night.

Its been a beautiful couple of days with soft warm sunshine - not too hot...and cold crisp evenings.
We have had the fire on in the house for days...
This photo was taken from our side lawn.

And then there are some of my treasures.

I found these lovely pieces in an 'antique' shop at an old historic house on the outside of our shopping centre.
Couldnt resist - as I hope to do some work like Cindy Needham  does - I do love her work and am so glad she is to be our tutor in the Free Motion Quilt Challenge next month.  I am sure they are not old, but they will be wonderful to practise on.
You will find some wonderful examples of Cindy's quilts and quilting on the above Free Motion Quilt Challenge site.

Back soon I hope - Off to wash some of my treasures.

Oh - and I just remembered it Friday night sew in!!  See you there.
