Another finish in between unpicking.  

I was asked to make a baby quilt for an expected baby Boy.

This is The Ladybug Party.. Ladybugs being my trademark - usually hidden in the quilt.

 I completed it and gave it yesterday... with 3 weeks to go!

It is sewn with yli 100 silk and double batted.. wool and cotton

Nothing too dense , although it was tempting.. and the design sewn larger than I normally do.

 I used my Drunkards Path Go Cutter die for this and it went together very easily.

Ladybugs everywhere :)

 I designed the feathers to fit the spaces and used a little contrast with the straight lines...where I used my ruler.

So one more finish..

and now back to my unpicking!

Family, Finished quilts, FMQ,

My Grandson Josh finally got his 18th Birthday quilt.  

Complete with Ladybugs, quilted in mystery places...

so much so - that I am not even sure where they are :)vb Its always fun looking for them.

This quilt is called The Pathways of Life, as there are a lot of borders, which made me think of all the pathway choices one has in life.

Older quilts

As I am busy sewing the Borders of my Threadhead Quilt Along with Joanne. and doing some of my online lessons with Photoshop, I thought I would show a quilt I did some years ago.

 Its called Our Home in the Bush.

As we lived in the bush on 25 acres in the Darling Ranges above Perth at the time and its all 1" and 2" squares...I thought it seemed appropriate  to represent the bush on our block.....In the centre of the quilt - is our house :)

There was no land cleared when we got there...so the name seemed appropriate!

Then of course we put up fences, cleared the paddocks, planted some oats, and introduced our sheep cows and horse...so it did look very different by the time we left for our Sea Change a few years later.

At that time I was not able to quilt much - so this one is all quilted in the ditch.

The quilt is all sewn on my DSM,  King sized and my Husband loved it ( still does )...

so of course - it is his.

Completions

Some success today - Nessie has been busy!!

Finished the piping and  backing ( also yellow)- with a zip in...( which I am not comfortable doing ) of a cushion which has been wating to be completed for some time.

Unfortunately I am unable to show it with the cushion inside as I dont have one that fits...:)- BUT the cushion is finished

I have Andrea's cushion to do maybe tomorrow or the weekend - while I am on a roll.

She was looking for the ladybug on her one - sadly I had forgotten to put one on... so I will get that small thing done tomorrow too.

I am working hard at my Photshop class through Carla Barrett of Feathered Fibers -  and the Pixel Ladies but I have lots to do yet!!

I have been doing this for most of the last 4 or so weeks.  It has kept me busy - and hot!!

This is my first comissioned quilt.  The one I got to play on :)

I have finished it now - the owner, Rosemary, has the binding and the washing to do now.

I wasn't quite sure how to go about it at first and did all the SID and round the applique first. 

Then it was block by block sewing as I felt each block needed to compliment it.

I am now taking a short break and will start again tomorrow.

Hi...thought I would change the Header to something more quilty.

This is my quilt called Andrea's Rainbows, completed in 2003.Amazingly  it won a first in an AP&Q Jinny Beyer fabric competition.  It toured Australia for a year before I it got back. It is named for Andrea,  as of course I started it long before it was finished and when she was small. She watched me cutting the small 'petal's' out and we talked about her rainbows.

 It now graces our Guest bedroom.

It is made Quilt As You Go, and is all hand quilted, The blocks have been joined together by machine.  The back of the quilt is joined in strips of  the complete Jinny Beyer Pallette Collection - in order, and the  the flying geese border is also in order.

I used a dark green cotton for the quilting for the main area of the quilt and the plain black blocks are quilted with hand dyed cotton made by my good friend Liz..

Without Liz this quilt would not have started - or been completed!

Liz has been my mentor and teacher from the start, and without her I would not have begun this wonderful journey!

I may put up more of my other quilts later.

The photos were taken this morning in our garden, and as you can see by the tree - Autum is on its way, and the weather is becoming cooler.
