FNSI

FNSI with Joanne

Mostly my Friday night comes earlier than most ,
so my FNSI was Friday morning for Joanne in Canada

As its near midnight for me here, I did some playing with FMQ
feathers...

As I look at this photo now, I can see where I missed a double line in the nestled feathers.
Was early in the morning at that stage!

There is Joanne in Canada and I am in Western Australia.
Isn't technology amazing?

Friday Night Sew in

Thank you to Heidi for hosting the Friday Night Sew In.

I did nearly forget about it, but made it in time...my Friday night comes a bit sooner than most countries
so I am lucky and can do two :)

So - I have done some more work on my WCQ
I need to keep going on this as some of the markings are really fading.
I am nearly round another section.
This is the top of course

and this is from the back.
Also ....

I have also sewn around another block ...Row 5 block 7 - so I can now sew this to the fifth row and I will have only one more blockto go for that row.
Then a heap of sewing to get the 4th row to the third row..Lots of hand sewing there...

Once those 5 rows are all together, I think I will add the bocks one by one to those rows
It won't seem such a lot to do that way.  I hope.
Only another 32 of the white surrounds, small squares and the smaller of the blocks to go.

Andrea has kindly said she will sew some of the 'threesies' of the white for me.
She has done this lots for me before and it is such a help.

Now I am off to sew some more of the WCQ

My Labyrinth quilt is soaking :)

Friday Night Sew in

More of the Labyrinth Quilt for the FNSI.

The rows are being sewn together  two at a time. The bottom half are all sewn 2 x 2 rows and the top ones are sewn singly.  I was worried if a sudden gust of wind would come along and mess up the plan, so I have been working hard.
Andrea was able to help me immensely with getting the design in order...otherwise I would have taken so much longer.
This is as far as got with the Friday Night Sew in.
A big thanks for Heidie for hosting it.

FNSI, Designs and family

I managed to get a small (tiny ) bit of FMQ done for FNSI
Was not able to sit for long...but its a start.

                                                             As I said - just a tiny bit :)

some drawings I did while sitting with Mal in hospital
My younger DD claimed this one to frame...

I call this one my sea monster

Elder DD wants this one

and maybe this one.

I actually did this on Wednesday ...and this is the carpet that was in the hospital...
It makes a great filler design for quilting.

And Andrea, in her new dress.... and shoes
Amazingly she is now 15!!

Thats it from me.

Pleased to say Mal is improving somewhat slowly .. has good and bad days
but we struggle on :) and keep positive.

Friday Night Sew in

Long time between posts , as I have been busy looking after my DH, I have managed to do some sewing for the FNSI.

My heart is not really in sewing at present, but its nice to get even a small bit done.

I have also managed to get almost half the central design of my whole cloth drawn out.

I have no idea how I am going to do the rest - probably draw as I go..or rather do the plan and draw from there.

Sorry I have not been writing comments much on other blogs, but blogger is being a bit silly and I cant enter comments on a lot of sites.
I am also trying hard to get my Photoshop Elements classes done and am behind on that too.

I catch up on sleep when I can and the sewing and other things just have to wait :)

Freezer Paper Applique

Not something I have done before - and I am enjoyig this.

Thanks to the great tutorial from Joanne at Threadhead, this has kept me busy...
You can find the link here
I still have a way to go.

Not sure if I will put it together yet, as I am undecided on the background fabric.

I have had another finish today - but cant show you that yet...its a gift for later in the month.  I now have two projects completed that I am unable to show just yet.
Last night - FNSI - I really was sewing - labels and sleeves on two quilts I am entering in a quilt show.  Nearly finished that too.
So many ufos' ..... which way to go .... sigh

Friday Night Sew In

Today - I thought I would ask a question and show you some of my beautiful thread.

As it is FNSI - I will be doing the border of the runner today/night
My question is...do you think the border I have drawn is enough.  I am still looking at it today and trying to work out if maybe I should work more feathers in the border...I did also think that the 'piano' keys would add a nice contrast. You can see my trusty purple Marvey pen,  I drew this last night and in the heat a humidy here, it is fadeing fast!
You can also see the double curves I have done with my rulers.  It was not easy getting them even, but I got better by the time I had been around it completely. The sizes differ slightly at the corners so they all fit in.
You can also see my great stash of Aurofil thread which I got from Sue Jackson
of Sue's Sew EZ Designs
Her service is fantastic... in fact I hope to get some more soon.

Off to think and hopefully get some comments back

Friday Night's Sew in

Friday Nights Sew In hosted by Heidi ....
Didnt get a great deal done,  but managed to get this practice piece done  for Friday Nights Sew In ..so I could do the flowers on the runner. ( now done) I now will sew these peices together and do some practise FMQ to see how the double wadding will work out.

Sewed up the appliqued flowers and ...MADE SOME STARCH!! - fist time.  I starched both the backing fabric and the top and have double layered the cotton wadding and it is on the table ready to baste.  I am not going to pin - I will hand sew the basting again...much as it gets hooked on the machine - It really is held together better.  At least I will give it another go......Lots of lovely spaces to FMQ - I think this will keep me going for a bit. Then I need to get some UFO's completed!

Not sure if I can get any done today..its now Saturday here, and I am out for a staff dinner tonight :) Still having a problem with blogger and putting the photos in a differednt spaces.
'Scuse the mess in the background...at least the table got cleared LOL.
Have a great weekend.

Friday Night Sew In

Been slowly working today as we have had school presentations and appointments...
Its now after 1.am - and I have 2 more grandchildren arriving tomorrow at 11.0am - so I need to go to bed.  They are staying overnight, so I may not get much done...Late at night is my time :)
Here is my FNSI to date.

I have 7, 6" square completed and 9 more to go.  Plus the small squares at the sides. I really want to get this finished...
I will send more pics as they get done.  I am trying some different fillers and trying to suit each block.
I would love to do feathers as such - but they dont really wuit...so I got christmas feathers instead.
The last one which I didnt photograph I am pleased with.

Would you believe this is a 1998 Christmas swap I entered with Squilters.

Tired - and now to bed!!
Excuse spelling mistakes if there are any :)

Friday Nights sew in and I have been busy

This is the first time I have ever sewn with Monofilament! As you can see it didn't work too well - I had problems with the tension.
This is one of the blocks I used my Applique Stabiliser on, and the reason I have taken a shot of it at an angle was to try to show you that the glue came out - no problems and the Applique Stabiliser has fluffed up and I guess turned to fiber...it does have a soft feel to it, and I am pleased with the result. The other 'bird' block is soaking overnight.

I did this also and I got all the applique sewn on ... a little better tension with the Monofilament this time...I wont wash this till its quilted and fiished. Now I will be sitting and staring to work out how to quilt it .

This is a closeup to show the sewing.

It's really great to know others are sewing along with me...all over the world!!

Friday Night Sew in
A good chance to get this I Spy quilt completed in time for Christmas.  I have the binding to complete...so Friday night is a perfect time to do this, I has been professionally quilted - last year!

I bought a picture frame for my small 'card' quilt.
I do think white would be better though.
Another gift maybe?

Back to my Whole Cloth quilting while there is lots of daylight - its so much easier to see.
