FMQ

I have actually managed to get some sewing done today - a small amount.  I completed the samples I had started for the Free Motion Challenge.

First was the drawing I did

Then the sewing

Sample fillers which I had done previously

The completed sample piece

Including my practise sashing

Its all sewn on 'Nessie',     my Bernina 820,  with the top thread silk and the back one Aurifil.
The tension was 1.75 for the bobbin, the needle was a 75 Microtec

I used a wool wadding and a cotton one to see what the double batting would be like.

The border one I used a lights greenish beige...as I was thinking of doing that colour on my Whole Cloth Quilt - if I ever get it together

Thats my days quilting - not much,  but a start.

Now I will be off to bed soon.

  3. I loved your quilting so much I came back for a second look, and was thinking for a variation on your square block (the first pic) you could have your feathers mirror image on either side, in the half square triangles.

  7. I'm so impressed by your quilting with such detail put into practising and drawing designs....I'm thinking it might be good for me to try it that way instead of just rushing in and drawing with stitches on the finished project and then being disappointed with my efforts.
I wonder if I can be so strong.

  8. Great work again Joan - hopefully you'll get more time to relax and quilt soon and I know you'll be treasuring every moment you get to sew at present but the freedom to loose yourself in sewing will come soon and you'll probably be surprised how creative you are at that time and I look forward to seeing the results ;0)

  12. OMG these samples are beautiful! Are you doing this challenge as a group of by yourself? I'm needing a challenge for myself as well! I'm so glad to be home, although I left everything in order, I'll need a few days to get settled back into a routine to play.
