FMQ Tuesday 18th May
The quilt halo came in the mail today - so I have used this to do all the feathers in the small borders...and filled one in by outlining it. I works wonderfully - and no quilting gloves used!!
In the top right hand corner there is a small Lady Bug...my trademark for my quilts - when I remember...so I thought I had best try to sew one without stopping and try to get it right.
All for now - its nearly 12.30am and time I had some sleep. Hopefully I will finish this tomorrow,
I see her! When I clicked on your photo, I really got a great look~adorable! I'm not a FMQ... but I do machine quilt by stitching in the ditch and basic things. So, you use the hoop to hold each side and it replaces your gloves? how neat! Gosh your work is so beautiful! XO
ReplyDeleteLovely FMQ! I haven't tried the hoop, how does it hold together? Like a regular embroidery hoop?
ReplyDeleteMore beautiful stitching. Do you just "eye ball" the fillers?

Newsflash Joan - you are already into tomorrow LOL Do hope you managed to get some sleep! So share with us about the hoop - I've tried to use an ordinary embroidery hoop to handquilt some of my quilts & found I just got into a frightful mess, so have just been sewing with the machine in the ditches & such like Sandra mentioned.
ReplyDeleteLove the lady bug! Great idea! It's good to know about the hoop, too. I've been tempted to try one. So, you'd recommend it?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know the hoop works, I might have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you mentioned your trademark, mine is a dragonfly, when I remember. When I don't remember I use 3 french knots near the binding.
I've been thinking about getting the quilt halo but wasn't sure they worked. Please blog about it again after you have used it more. Is is a pain to move after you have quilted the area.
ReplyDeleteLooking good!!♥
ReplyDeletewow...lovely progress..i missed visitng your blog beause i was travelling...
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I have never heard of the Quilt Halo. I am going to have to check it out...
