Some progress on my designed sampler today, this time using a white gutterman cotton. I used a cream on the bobbin, at furst, but changed it to white halfway through as the cream showed through in center of the circular wreath.
I had to sort the tension out a bit too.
Four small lady-bugs are included :)
Its been a learning curve...and learnt lots on what NOT to do!
The main drawn sections of the design are quilted, and I am off to bed and will work out the freehand filler designs tomorrow when I have time.
It will be lovely Joan..
ReplyDeleteI'm not game to try that yet,,I have trouble with uneven stitch lengths..
Look forward to seeing more .

Hello Joan,
ReplyDeleteGreetings. Thank you for visiting me and leaving the kind kind comments! Diane Gaudynski's books are invaluable. That's how I got started -- I read her book over and over again, and went from there. I see that you have a Bernina. I do too - I quilt all my quilts on my 640E.
Your feathers are lovely... I can't wait to see it finished.
I use whatever fabrics I like for the backing. So, they are not always cream color. :) But I try to remember to use a beige (or solid) backing if I know I am going to do dense quilting.
Keep quilting - you will get better! :)
Oh WOW Joan, your quilting design is stunning!! I can't imagine doing such an intricate design by machine, I've VERY impressed. As for the filler, something simple like a grid would be perfect, not too fussy to distract from the rest of the design....my opinion given at your request LOL.

Hi Joan
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use to mark your patterns on your quilt? I would love to quilt like that. Does Diane Gaudynski's book show you how to do all of this?
This is so pretty! It reminds me of a block that I have somewhere that is already marked and ready for quilting...wish I knew where it was!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I knew you had to be a Diane Gaudynski person when I saw the photos in this post.
