Square Patches #25 - 32
Have all the centres and side of these small patches cut now Now will try to get them together...althought I think I will have to stop for a while soon to get some binding done on some other quilts.
I still have a week to go before that I think.

Cooks in the kitchen!!
Andrea was chopping onions and Josh was opening the tomato paste.
Ruby in Sunny Florida asked me how I worked out my fussy cuts, so I have put up a series of photos on my new Webshots album, on how I design and cut them...and try to work out what goes with what. I hope this helps . I really had fun playing with the fabric. I have been busy too, fussy cutting some of the 1 inch squares. Its a lovely way to spend time...but I am back to sewing now.

Andrea and her cousin Josh are busy cooking tea tonight...Spagetti Bolignase. Really looking forward to that, specially as I dont have to do it myself! Its lovely as Josh is spending the night here too. .

Andrea's contribution so far.
I think there are enough hexagons (3-sies) done for 11 blocks!
What a help!

Preparing the block borders and joiner fabics. The heap of fabric on the left is yet to be printed and cut.
Dont think I am halfway YET!

Showing all my POTC's and some of my joiners and small squares.
Loads of work ahead..and full of challenge.
Andrea is still busy sewing 3'sies and being a great help doing so...I think she has 11 block surrounds done so far, and thankfully her back has improved with rest, and she will be back at school on Monday
I am now working on cutting some more of the small squares, and printing more of the cream fabric.

POTC # 59 completed 19.11.09

Central hexagons La Scala and the outer are Batik.

POTC's 57, 58 and 59 will replace 1,2 and 3...and thats it for those blocks...BUT I may replace one other...I shall see when I get further along.

POTC # 58 completed 19.11.09.

Our two frogs, Frodo and Wee-bit.

First time we were able to get them in the same photo.

They come out from wherever they live in the rocks, and sun themseves each day.

I think we have one more tadpole to go.

POTC # 56 completed 17.11.09
Central fabric is from my stash and am not sure of its origin.
Remaining fabric is also Batik. I should have noted which Batik collection they were, but too late to work it out now.
I am continuing with more blocks.

POTC # 55 completed 16.11.09

Cental hexagons are from the La Scala Collection and the dark red are from Jinny Beyer Pallette collection. The pale pink are batik.

I have another 12 blocks designed, and have decided to continue completing these, in between preparing and sewing some of my joining squares.

I am also printing and slowly cutting both the cream hexagons which will go around each individual block and the small 1" square joiner fabric. Makes a small break between sewing the main blocks.

Andrea is helping join some of the cream hexagons...by doing 'threesies'

So there will be more than the original 56 blocks needed and I will be able to sort out from the final blocks which ones I want to use.
Thank goodnes this is Inklingo...

POTC # 54 Completed 15.11.09

Missed yesterday - at least I didnt get this one finished till earlier today. Meant to get another done...but spent the day in the garden...and looking forward to fresh vegies in the future.
The central fabrics are Nuance and the outer ones are batik.

Oh and we have a new frog in our frog Pond..Wee bit!! He looks just like Frodo, but is much smaller.
So there was another time waster over the weekend, not to mention some good TV programs!

POTC # 53 Completed 13.11.09

This was not an easy block to do.

The central Traditional Batik was really too soft and difficult to place. Involved a bit of unpicking.
The outside dark brown is Fossil Fern and apart from the central Tradidional Batik the others are another of my mysteries!

POTC # 51 completed 11.11.09
I seem to have a few mystery fabrics popping up all the time.....but I know the central ones are Asian...where they originated from - I have no idea! Batiks surround them.
Actually raining with thunder and lightening here at present - strange weather!

My contribution to the Worlds Greatest hexagon quilt.

14 of them, were posted off yesterday. 05.11.09.
I included a Freezer paper sheet with 15 printed hexagons ( of the cream fabric that goes on the border of each flower) on to show how I had printed on the fabric using Inklingo, and included the colour I printed with, and the size Freezer Paper I used...

Couldnt resist this one. Its Frodo2 again on one of his favorite rocks above his pond. The net is there to protect him from the birds here. Our first frog wasnt so lucky! There is another large tadple in the pond, so hopefully Frodo will have a friend soon.
POTC # 47
Completed 06.11.09.
This block was difficult as the patterned pieces are Liberty of London, and the fabric was so soft... it felt like sewing tissue paper and was a bit of a fiddle. The dark blue fabric is from the Jinny Beyer Pallete and the light blue - another mystery!

POTC # 46 Completed today 05.11.09.

Fabric is from the Robert Kaufman Empress Bouquet collection. I believe this fabric has now been discontinued, which is sad. The blue hexagons are batik

POTC # 45

Completed 03.11.09

This one took me a while to complete.....
All the central hexagons are from the La Scala Collection and the dark burgundy from the Nuance collection.

Now to begin the next one. I have another 20 designrd on my design board...and if I get them all done before Christmas...I may, as a good friend of mine suggestedd, get some put behind glass in a frame, for Christmas gifts, to go on a wall. Maybe!

POTC # 44 completed 01.11.09
Central hexagons are from the Nuance collection , and the second patterned hexagons are another of those mystery ones...that I was collectiong at the beginning of all this POTC fun!
The outside blue are all batiks.
Now to go and make some more hexagon flowers for the Largest Hexagon quilt challenge. I hope to get some from Andrea too, but she is busy with her social life at present. Maybe next weekend and I can get them all posted off then.
